Church sets Holy Week, Easter activities

Zion Lutheran Church, 1290 River Road, Marietta, will host Holy Week and Easter activities.

A Holy (Maundy) Thursday service will take place on Thursday, March 28, at 7 p.m. The service will recall the Great Commandment for people to love one another as Christ has loved them. It will also include a celebration of Communion, and at the conclusion of the service, attendees will depart in silence.

A Good Friday service on Friday, March 29, at 7 p.m. will include John's Passion Gospel as well as prayer. At the end of the service, the congregation will sing "Were You There?" and then depart in silence.

On Easter, March 31, a sunrise service will be held at 7 a.m. in Zion's pavilion. Attendees may bring a folding chair or sit at the picnic tables for this informal gathering. An Easter Festival Service will be held at 10:15 a.m. in the church's worship space.

Between the services, from 8 to 9:30 a.m., the church will offer a breakfast in the fellowship hall. The meal will include made-to-order-omelets, potatoes, fresh fruit, and sweets. Food will be prepared and served by chef Charlie Gipe from Harrisburg. A freewill offering will be received to help offset the costs.
