Lancaster Church of the Brethren, 1601 Sunset Ave., Lancaster, will host a Blue Christmas service on Thursday, Dec. 18, at 6:30 p.m. in the church's chapel.

Led by the congregation's pastors, the brief service will include readings, music, and candle lighting. The program will provide a worship opportunity and a reminder of the coming of Christ for people who are having trouble embracing the festivities and joy of the Christmas season due to the loss of a loved one, financial difficulties, poor physical health, family discord, loneliness, or other troubles.
