In January of 1987, Wills was preparing to leave for Europe to play professional tennis when he was diagnosed with a rare, often fatal cancer of the lymph system known as Burkitt lymphoma. Wills spent eight months at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Md. At one point, doctors told him that he had only 10 hours to live. However, Wills was healed without any medical explanation.

Wills' testimony has been featured in Kenneth Copeland's Voice of Victory Magazine and also Pat Robertson's broadcast of the 700 Club.

Wills travels and ministers at churches, Bible schools, crusades, conferences and college campuses in the United States and abroad. He holds healing workshops and healing services and ministers to the sick.
