Church To Offer Community Meal, Program

Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 W. Orange St., Lititz, serves community meals on the third Wednesday of each month. The next scheduled event will be on Dec. 17.

The meal will be served at 6 p.m. in the Family Life Center, accessed through the rear of the church. A program focusing on peace and justice will be held after the meal from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m.

The December program for adults will be an introduction to Kingian Nonviolence (KNV). KNV is a philosophy and methodology with knowledge, skills, and motivation people can use to apply peaceful strategies for solving personal and community problems. Rooted in the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the framework equips individuals and groups to address conflict, foster justice, and build communities grounded in peace. These introductory sessions will be presented by Sara Haldeman-Scarr, KNV trainer and interim pastor for Ambler Church of the Brethren.

Children's Peace Clubs will be offered during the adult program. There will be a group for toddlers and preschoolers and a group for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Youths are welcome to attend the adult sessions.

The meal and program is free and open to the public, and donations will be accepted. No registration is required for the meal or adult program, but people are asked to register children for the Peace Clubs by contacting the church office at 717-626-2131 or admin@lititzcob.org.
