Church to present spring concert

Little Britain Presbyterian Church will present a spring concert on Sunday, May 18, at 2 p.m. Featured performers will be Janet Jackson Witman, well-known local harpist, and Rick Rineer, who will be at the console of the Moller pipe organ. The community is welcome to attend.

Witman is returning to her home church to perform "Harp of Faith" inspirational selections of familiar music and hymns, as well as original compositions. Witman is a graduate of Curtis Institute in Philadelphia and West Chester University. She is principal harpist with the Kennett Symphony and has performed extensively with many known choral groups in Lancaster and Chester counties and at the Hotel Du Pont in Wilmington, Del.

Rineer is the organist at Little Britain Presbyterian Church and also at Memorial Church in Quarryville. He also served as music director for Avondale United Methodist Church and Union Presbyterian Church. Having local roots, Rineer grew up attending Christiana United Methodist Church and was a student of Rose Heffner. He has played the organ at Longwood Gardens and Saint Patrick's Cathedral in New York City.

The Moller pipe organ at Little Britain Church was installed in 1932. The organ has eight ranks and 532 pipes.

A freewill offering will be accepted to support local church outreach and the community meal program. Light refreshments will be served in the church fellowship hall following the concert.
