The Bethel, Pleasant Grove and Water's Edge United Methodist churches will partner to host Lenten services. Services will be held at select churches on Sundays at 4 p.m. and Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

The theme for these services is "Giving It Up." During the series, attendees will hear about things that God wants people to give up, not just for the 40 days of Lent, but forever.

The series will kick off with "Giving Up Control" on Sunday, Feb. 26, at Bethel, 1674 Furnace Road, Brogue, and Wednesday, March 1, at Pleasant Grove, 900 Pleasant Grove Road, Red Lion. "Giving Up Expectations" will be presented on Sunday, March 5, at Bethel and Wednesday, March 8, at Water's Edge, 471 Abel's Road, Wrightsville. The remaining topics will be "Giving Up Superiority" on Sunday, March 12, at Bethel and Wednesday, March 15, at Pleasant Grove; "Giving Up Enemies" on Sunday, March 19, at Bethel and Wednesday, March 22, at Water's Edge; and "Giving Up Our Lives" on Sunday, March 26, at Bethel and Wednesday, March 29, at Pleasant Grove.
