Churches Plan Workshop

The Wesley Network Churches will offer a Community Winter Workshop on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Colerain Campus, 1923 Noble Road, Kirkwood. The purpose of the event is to encourage and give perspective and insight into the event's theme, "Help on the Journey."

A variety of sessions will be offered, and people may attend one or more. At 9 a.m., the sessions and presenters will be "Raising Children for Jesus" by Angie Dearolf, "Walking Through Grief" by Dan Steinman and "Scripture and Science" by Laurie Swarr. At 10 a.m., participants may choose to attend "Strengthening Marriage" by Scott Phillips, "Health and Wellness" by Dr. Joshua Gregory or "Preparing for Life's Passages" by Kendall Keeler. The presentations at 11 a.m. will be "Financial Foundations" by Mindy Hoopes, "Pressing on Through Chronic Illness" by Sarah Finch and "Families Facing Addiction" by Dannel Wissler.

"Raising Children for Jesus" will focus on how to raise one's kids in a faith-filled environment. Dearolf will detail ways to put children in a position to learn about God.

For "Walking Through Grief," Steinman will share his story of overcoming tragedy in his life and navigating the journey of mourning. After the loss of their son, Steinman and his wife began a ministry to help others experiencing difficulty with losing a loved one.

In "Scripture and Science," Swarr will give a talk on the relationship between faith and scientific knowledge and how one complements the other. Swarr will emphasize that one can be both a Christian and a scientist at the same time.

In "Strengthening Marriage," Phillips will speak on a few methods to maintain a strong marriage, such as practicing positive communication and what that looks like between spouses.

For "Health and Wellness," Gregory will share a biblical perspective on taking care of one's body. Gregory will give tips for exercising as well as nutrition.

Keeler will address the struggles that people encounter at each stage of their lives as part of "Preparing for Life's Passages." Topics will range from young adulthood to discussions on marriage.

For "Financial Foundations," Hoopes will share tips on budgeting, managing expenses and other financial tools.

Finch will discuss ways to cope with chronic illness in "Pressing on Through Chronic Illness." She will share different steps one can take to move forward.

Lastly, for "Families Facing Addiction," Wissler will encourage families that have children who are struggling with addiction.

"We want to give people a taste of each of these things," said lead pastor Blake Deibler. "We're hoping it launches more opportunities for people to find perspective, courage and insight."

There is no fee to participate. For more information, contact Deibler at 717-786-8322 or bdeibler@wesleyqville.org.
