Circle Legacy Center posts program

Circle Legacy Center will hold a Second Friday program on May 9 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Community Mennonite Church of Lancaster, 328 W. Orange St., Lancaster. Attendees are asked to use the Concord Street entrance. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share if they are able.

The program will be "Preserving Land, Water and Native Culture in Lancaster County." Attendees will learn about Circle Legacy Center's collaborations with two organizations that are preserving, restoring, and protecting native culture, lands, waterways, and historical sites. People will learn how they may support and assist these projects.

Circle Legacy Center is partnering with the River Stewards Collaborative to carry out the Land Studies Indigenous Heritage Initiative Project. This initiative focuses on telling the story of the cultural-ecological (people and land) relationship from the indigenous perspective by way of events, education, tours, projects, and preservation of the Little Conestoga watershed.

Circle Legacy Center is also working with the Susquehanna Native American Council, whose objective is to honor, protect, and assist Pennsylvania's native peoples through education, protecting historical sites, establishing parks with interpretive centers, and more.

This will be the last Second Friday program of the season.

During the summer, Circle Legacy Center will provide programs at Blue Rock Heritage Center, the Lancaster Longhouse at the 1719 Museum, Indian Steps Museum and Conestoga Area Historical Society. The next program will be a flintknapping class at Blue Rock Heritage Center, 2251 River Road, Washington Boro, on Saturday, June 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
