Civil War Roundtable sets program

The Hershey Civil War Roundtable will meet on Thursday, May 16, at Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 542, 8000 Derry St., Harrisburg, at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will also be livestreamed via Zoom and Facebook, and a recording will be posted at http://www.hersheycwrt.org after the event.

William Binzel will present "Innocent or Guilty - Mary Surratt and the Lincoln Assassination." Mary Surratt was convicted as a conspirator in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln and was hanged, becoming the first woman to be executed by the federal government. The controversy over these events endures. Binzel will share who Surratt was, why she was charged as a conspirator, and his thoughts on whether she was innocent or guilty.
