Clouser, Rottet recognized

The Elizabethtown Area High School Rotary Students of the Month for December were Maggie Clouser and Gabriel Rottet. The program celebrates student achievements and seeks to sustain a culture of learning and belonging that values academic success and raises awareness of student contributions to the high school community. The honorees have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their studies, leadership and character qualities, and positive contributions to the school community.

Maggie is the daughter of Matt and Janel Clouser of Elizabethtown. She is the captain of the girls' soccer team, a student leader for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a mentor for the Etown Jump Start Program, and a member of the National Honor Society, the girls' basketball team, Bible club, quiz bowl, and debate club. She has consistently secured a spot on the academic honor roll throughout her high school years. At the underclassman awards program, Maggie received academic excellence awards in Wellness 9, Naval Science, The Vietnam War, Geography, Honors General Science, and Honors Algebra 2. The Daughters of the American Revolution awarded her the American Revolution JROTC Bronze Medal. In the community, Maggie volunteers for the GEARS Iddy Biddy Soccer program, serves as a counselor at the FCA Power Camp in Manheim, and engages in activities at Harvest Bible Church, including participating in the youth group, serving in the toddler ministry, and volunteering for vacation Bible school. Maggie plans to pursue a degree in physical education at a Christian college.

Gabriel is the son of Todd and Melissa Rottet of Elizabethtown. As a concert and chamber choir member, he serves as a bass vocalist and piano accompanist. In the orchestra, Gabriel is a cellist and pianist, and in the concert and marching bands, he is a mallet and auxiliary percussionist. Additionally, Gabriel plays the keyboard in the pit orchestra for high school musicals. His school activities also include National Honor Society, quiz bowl, science club, and coding club. Outside of school, Gabriel participates in the Etown United Recreational Soccer League and is a youth choir member at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Gabriel hopes to pursue a degree in software engineering while maintaining his involvement in musical pursuits.
