Comets blank McCaskey in regular season ender

In looking to keep their district volleyball hopes alive, Penn Manor blanked McCaskey Thursday, May 11, on their home court and in doing so snagged the final district playoff spot. The Comets, behind Wyatt Rohrer's 24 assists and Harry Whited's ten kills, won 25-8, 25-15, 25-20 and swept the series. Garrett Cortez chipped in with nine digs, Andrew Weaver served up three aces and Roman Keefer put up one block.

The Comets finished 5-7 in Section One. Sitting at 9-9 overall, they are currently the 14th seed in the District 3 Tournament.

TRACK

The track teams competed in the Lancaster-Lebanon League championships on a damp and dreary Saturday, May 13, at Hempfield High School.

Drew Lebo cleared 12-6 in the pole vault and finished in a tie for second place. He was the Comets' highest place winner. Lebo also teamed with Jovani Martinez, Jon Osman, and Adrian Smith for a fifth-place finish in the 4x100 relay (43.77), just .14 behind Hempfield's fourth place 43.63 effort.

Trevor Schneider cleared 6-0 in the high jump and grabbed a fourth-place medal.

Other top ten place-winners included: Sebastian Weaver, sixth in the pole vault; Wyatt Kauffman - seventh in the discus; Kaleb Kabakjian, ninth in the mile, and Jason Andro, who finished 10th in the long jump.

The highest place-winner for the girls' team was Brianna Lee who tied for fifth place, clearing a height of 4-10. Mikayla Weaver also cleared 4-10 and tied for eighth place on misses.

Other top 10 place-winners included Kate Harnish in the long jump. She had the second longest jump for a sophomore. And Maleah Zook who finished eighth in the 300 hurdles.
