Commemoration Event Scheduled

International Holocaust Remembrance Day will be recognized on Wednesday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. with a live online event via Zoom. The United Nations General Assembly designated Jan. 27, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, as International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The speakers will be pastor Mark Ammerman, Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, East Petersburg; pastor Benjamin S. Erzkus, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, East Petersburg; pastor Doug Hinton, Hempfield Church of the Brethren, Manheim; pastor Christopher Rankin, Trinity United Church of Christ, East Petersburg; and Rabbis Daniela Szuster and Rami Pavolotzky, Temple Beth El, Lancaster. The event will honor the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and millions of other victims of Nazism.
