The Donegal Area Republican Committee invites registered Republicans interested in running for municipal or school district offices to seek the endorsement of the committee for the 2021 municipal election. The committee will interview candidates and consider endorsements on Saturday, Feb. 20.

Local offices up for election in 2021 include the following. A school director is needed for Donegal School District, which includes Marietta Borough, Mount Joy Borough, East Donegal Township, and a portion of Mount Joy Township. In Marietta Borough, the offices of mayor, tax collector, and borough council member are up for election; all offices are elected at large.

In Mount Joy Borough, the offices up for election are mayor, elected at large; tax collector, elected at large; and borough council member, elected by ward. In East Donegal Township, township supervisor, tax collector, and township auditor are the available positions; all offices are elected at large. Constables are needed in East Donegal Township, elected at large, and in Marietta and Mount Joy Boroughs, elected by ward. Judges and inspectors of elections will be elected in each individual election district.

To be considered for endorsement, a candidate must be a registered Republican voter residing in the area served by the office. Candidates must meet all other legal qualifications for the office sought. To receive the endorsement, a candidate must receive at least two-thirds of the vote of committee members representing the area served by the office.

Interested candidates must submit a resume and letter of interest to the committee. To be eligible for endorsement, a candidate's letter must be postmarked on or before Friday, Feb. 12.
