Community Calendar

The Community Calendar is a weekly feature of the Community Courier.

Local clubs, civic organizations, nonprofit agencies, schools, etc., that would like to have events or meeting date information published, should contact the Community Courier in writing at least two weeks before the event. Support Group

Kacie's Cause, Parkesburg Chapter, will offer a support group for friends and family of addicted loved ones on Wednesday, Jan. 27 (and every Wednesday), at 7 p.m. in the chapel at The Parkesburg POINT youth center, 700 Main St., Parkesburg. Church Meals

Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, 1068 Chestnut Level Road, Quarryville, invites the community to participate in its Faith and Food meal on Wednesday, Jan. 27, and every Wednesday through March 17. Additional dates after March 17 may be added.

Meals will be available for eat-in or takeout from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Those who dine at the church must wear masks when entering the building until they are seated. Each dinner includes a hot entree, a side, fruit and a dessert.

There is a suggested nominal donation. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the church office at 717-548-2763, option 1, or emailing office@chestnutlevel.org.

Support Group

An in-person Narcotics Anonymous meeting will be held on Thursday, Jan. 28 (and every Thursday) at 5 p.m. at Impact Church, 101 E. First Ave., Parkesburg.

Library Programs

Ms. Maureen from Atglen Public Library will present an online story time and craft program on Thursdays, Jan. 28 and Feb. 4, 11 and 18, from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. The program is best for children ages 3 to 6, but youngsters of all ages are welcome. The library's online Adult Book Club will meet to discuss "Hillbilly Elegy" by J.D. Vance on Jan. 28 from 7 to 8:15 p.m. and the library's Teen Writing Group will meet virtually on Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Registration is required for both programs. TOPS Meeting

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a nonprofit weight loss support group with thousands of chapters in the U.S. and Canada. Locally, a TOPS Chapter will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 2 (and every Tuesday), from 5:45 to 7:15 p.m. at the Manor Presbyterian Church, 505 Street Road (Route 926), Cochranville

Thrift Store Open

The Righteous Clothing Thrift Store, a ministry of the Parkesburg United Methodist Church, offers gently used toddler and infant clothing, shoes and accessories, jewelry, small appliances, household items, sheets, pillows, blankets, holiday decorations, toys, candles, art and more.

Profits are given back to the Parkesburg community. Donations of in-season items are accepted during business hours or by appointment.
