Community center to benefit from barbecue

The fourth annual drive-through pork barbecue meal benefiting the ministries of the Alpha & Omega Community Center (AOCC) is scheduled for Saturday, April 13. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lancaster Church of the Brethren, 1601 Sunset Ave.

Catered by Peters' Barbecue, the takeout meal will include a pulled pork sandwich with barbecue sauce, a homemade roll, a baked potato, and applesauce. A drink is not included. There is a fee, and additional donations are welcome. Last year's event raised more than $1,300.

Preorders are encouraged, but a limited number of meals will be available for purchase on the day of the event. To preorder, contact board member Carolyn Fitzkee no later than Wednesday, April 3, at dcfitzkee@gmail.com or 717-682-1762.

Affiliated with the Alpha & Omega Church of the Brethren, the AOCC seeks to share God's love by providing education and social services to empower the Latino community of Lancaster. Led by executive director Joel Pena, the center offers a food bank, computers for refugees, Spanish language counseling, and English instruction. The center is located at 708 Wabank St., Lancaster.
