Concert To Benefit New Retreat Center

Christ Church United Church of Christ (UCC), 247 S. Market St., Elizabethtown, will host Stefan Andre Waligur in concert on Saturday, June 5, at 7 p.m.

This event is a benefit concert to support the new Community of Peace in Louisa (CPL), located in Louisa, Va., near Charlottesville. The concert will offer original songs and chants for peace and justice, stories and poetry from the Celtic tradition, and an opportunity for shared sacred silence. Waligur is a monk in the Benedictine tradition who has offered retreats and concerts across the country and around the world.

CPL is an ecumenical community and retreat center on 270 acres of wooded and meadowed land. Like the Taize Community in France, CPL will offer a sung prayer three times a day and welcome visitors into daily prayer, silence, shared meals, dialogue and service, all on a donation basis. CPL is intended to be a place of retreat and renewal, especially for people who may not otherwise be able to afford a retreat.
