Concert to feature jazz "Nutcracker Suite"

The Arts at Millersville University will present "The Swingin' Jazz Nutcracker Suite" on Friday, Dec. 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ware Center, 42 N. Prince St., Lancaster.

This adaptation of Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker Suite" will be performed by the Emmy-nominated Scranton Jazz Festival Big Band. A 17-piece jazz orchestra will play big band arrangements of songs like "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy," imagined by jazz legends Shorty Rogers and Duke Ellington. Performed under the direction of maestro Marko Marcinko, "The Swingin' Jazz Nutcracker Suite" features narration by WGAL's T.J. Springer and vocals by Amy Banks.
