Concert to feature steel pan music

The Arts at Millersville University's will present the Victor Provost Quartet in the final event of the Club 42 season on Saturday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the third-floor atrium of the Ware Center, 42 N. Prince St., Lancaster. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Provost's quartet presents Trinidadian steelpan music combining jazz and Caribbean sounds via roots rhythms, swing, and improvisations. Provost will be joined by Alex Brown on piano, Tony DePaolis on bass, and Michael Piolet on drums, and will play original compositions alongside the music of Chick Corea, Duke Ellington, Lord Kitchener, Vince Mendoza, and others.

Provost was born and raised on the island of St. John, Virgin Islands. He has performed at venues around the world, and he was named the Washington City Paper's Jazz Percussionist of the Year six years in a row. His most recent recording, "Bright Eyes," debuted at No. 5 on the iTunes Top 40 Jazz Charts.
