Contestants Sought for Chili Cook-Off

Discover Denver's fifth annual chili cook-off will take place on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lighthouse Community Center, 239 Main St., Denver.

Community members are invited to take part in the cook-off. Contestants should prepare a minimum of eight quarts of chili. Any type of chili is welcome, and the chili must be brought ready to eat. Samples of each type of chili will be made available to event attendees while supplies last. Contestants may also supply their own toppings and condiments, which must be individually packaged and portioned.

All sampling supplies will be provided by Discover Denver. Electrical outlets and extension cords for slow cookers will be available to contestants in the main area of the Lighthouse Community Center, and there will also be space to keep additional supplies warm. Contestants must be set up with their chili by 10:30 a.m. in preparation for judging, and each chili entry will be limited to one representative inside the building.

The deadline to register for the cook-off is Friday, Sept. 26. To register or for more information, email treiste@gmail.com or call 717-271-2435.

The cook-off is part of the Discover Denver event that will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 11 along the 300 block of Main Street.
