Jim and Sharon Roberts of Mount Joy marked their 50th anniversary on Feb. 27. They were married on Feb. 27, 1972, in Baltimore.

Jim and Sharon first met in 1970 at the Woolworth's in Baltimore, where Jim had become the store manager. He was promoted in 1971 to open the Woolworth's at Park City, and Sharon joined him after they married. They were transferred to Bradford in August 1972. Jim and Sharon decided to put down roots and start their own business when their daughter was born. In 1974, they moved to Mount Joy, opening a Western Auto, now West Main Auto.

The Robertses have a daughter, Michele, who is married to Jason Landvater. There is one granddaughter.
