Creativity abounds in Elizabethtown, and the Elizabethtown Public Library's Craft Fair With a Small Business Flair is the perfect place to showcase it.

The craft fair will be held at the library, 10 S. Market St., from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 10, and from 9 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11.

"Anyone who comes to the craft fair will be really surprised by the creativity of our local vendors," said Dorinda Nolan, adult services team leader.

Held on the main floor and the second floor of the library, the craft fair will feature a wide variety of items, including gourd and wood decorations, pine needle baskets, magnets, hand-crocheted dish towels, pottery, stuffed animals, doll clothes, handmade cards and jewelry.

"We have a vendor with upcycled books and sheet music," Nolan noted. "We'll also have two craft groups here." One group creates fiber arts, including tatting and crocheting, and the other group features knitted items. Both groups meet regularly at the library, and proceeds from their sales will benefit the library.

Upon entry to the craft fair, attendees will receive a map of the vendors with a description of each booth. "Each vendor will have a prize at their table," Nolan stated. "When you come in, you'll get tickets to put at the vendor whose prize you'd like to win. When you buy something, you can get more tickets as well. We'll draw the winners and contact them on Saturday."

This is the 12th year for the craft fair, which began with a focus on recycled crafts and has grown every year. The fair serves a dual purpose beyond spotlighting local crafters. "It's also a way to make people aware of the library and everything we offer," Nolan explained, noting that the library's bookstore will be open as well as the in-house Elizabethtown Coffee Company, which will have beverages for sale.

"It's a fun day to see unique items and pick up a gift for yourself or someone else," Nolan said.
