Dance company to present "Lovebug"

FRWRD Dance Company will present "Lovebug" on Thursday, April 25, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 27, at 11 a.m. at Mickey's Black Box, 101 Rock Lititz Blvd., Lititz. Doors will open an hour before each performance.

Following the show on April 25, attendees may attend a reception in the lobby, where they may mingle with cast and crew members. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, including bug-themed specialty cocktails. The performance is family-friendly; the reception is geared toward adults. Attendees must be at least 21 and show ID to obtain alcoholic beverages.

On April 27, Lancaster Conservancy will host its Bug Exploration Station in the lobby from 10 to 11 a.m. and for 30 minutes following the performance. The station will feature live insects and bug experts.

Written and directed by Lauren Tait, "Lovebug" is returning for a second year with an expanded cast of professional dancers, updated choreography, and two new bugs. The show depicts 10 different types of bugs by merging intricate modern dance with elaborate costumes and props, from a suspended cocoon to a giant spider web. With the use of original poetry, the show's nature guide and narrator leads the way through the bullfrog's fly-filled bog, a beehive, the chrysalis of a caterpillar, and other place. The show's run time is about 60 minutes.

The purpose of FRWRD Dance Company's partnership with the Lancaster Conservancy is to build awareness around the ecological importance of bugs.
