Dance showcase to raise funds for Ukraine

The Viktor Yeliohin International Ballet Academy of Lancaster has scheduled a multi-studio regional collective showcase of dance called "Releve," which is a ballet term meaning "to rise up." The event will be held on Sunday, April 2, at 4 p.m. in the High Fine Performing Arts Center at Lancaster Mennonite School.

Viktor Yeliohin's primary vision is to provide the community with beautiful dance performances while raising money for Ukrainian children affected by the war. All proceeds will be donated to Step-In, an organization that donates medical supplies and provides health care for Ukrainian children, and other nonprofits that share the goal to meet the medical needs of children in Ukraine.

The showcase represents a partnership between local dance studios, whose dancers will collectively perform pieces in ballet, contemporary and modern dance styles. In addition to the Viktor Yeliohin International Ballet Academy, the participating schools include Encore Dance Center, Balance Dance, Adrenaline Dance of York, Movement Laboratory, NetCo Dance, and Emme Dance Collective. The showcase has special meaning to some of the dancers as ballerinas from Ukraine have participated in Yeliohin's annual production of "The Nutcracker."
