Daniel Boone Homestead Associates will present the second annual Trails of History 5K/10K and half-mile fun run/walk on Saturday, Oct. 8, at Daniel Boone Homestead, 400 Daniel Boone Road, Birdsboro. Participants will travel along the same trails that Daniel Boone explored as a child.

Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the DeTurk Education Center. The 5K and 10K race will start and finish at the center and will begin at 9 a.m. Participants should park in the DeTurk Education Center lot and the Wayside Lodge lot.

Awards will be given to the top male and female winners of the 5K and 10K, as well as the top male and female finishers in various age groups. Special awards will be given for the best dressed entrant displaying the era of the mid-1700s.

The fun run/walk for people of all ages will travel around the historical area starting at the craft shed at 10:15 a.m. Walkers will be permitted in the 5K and fun run/walk only.

Snacks will be available following the race and there will be a water stop on the course, which is a combination of road and short grass.
