DAR Gives Awards To Local Students

The Donegal Witness Tree Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, recently awarded Youth Citizenship Awards to students from five local middle schools. Qualifications for the award include honor, service, courage, leadership, and patriotism.

Jonathan Putt, Columbia Middle School, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Putt. He plays on two basketball teams.

Brynn Rishell, Eastern York Middle School, is the daughter of Stephany Rishell and Troy Rishell. In school she was active in color guard and soccer.

Derek Irwin, Our Lady of the Angels in Columbia, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Irwin. At school, he enjoys art, gym, religion, science, and social studies classes.

Christina Haines, Donegal Junior High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Haines. She was president of Builders Club and Leadership Club, and she also took extra classes to be able to assist children with special needs. She has taken part in mission trips with her church youth group.

Elyssa Nolt, Elizabethtown Area Middle School, is the daughter of Veronica Nolt. Her school activities included field hockey, chorus, and show choir, and she took part in a gifted program. She is also involved with her church youth group and youth band.
