Discussion Group to Meet

Exploring, Growing Together Discussion Forum will meet on Thursdays, March 12 and 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the conference room at the Lititz Public Library, 651 Kissel Hill Road, Lititz.

The group will discuss "The Women" by Kristen Hannah. The discussion will be led by Linda Van Til, certified lay minister, emeritas. Attendees do not need to read the book to attend the discussion.

"The Women" was a No. 1 bestseller on The New York Times, USA Today, Washington Post and Los Angeles Times. Hannah is also the author of "The Nightingale" and "The Four Winds."

"The Women" is a coming-of-age story set during the Vietnam War. The main character is nursing student Frances "Frankie" McGrath. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

But war is just the beginning for Frankie and her veteran friends. The real battle lies in coming home to a changed and divided America, to angry protesters, and to a country that wants to forget Vietnam.

"The Women" is the story of one woman gone to war, but it shines a light on all women who put themselves in harm's way and whose sacrifice and commitment to their country has too often been forgotten.

Attendees may bring a lunch to eat during the discussion, if desired.

The forum discussion series offers a safe learning environment in which to discuss and explore diverse topics and beliefs with respect to everyone sharing. Those who plan to attend should contact Linda at 717-626-0745 or raven303@ptd.net. Those who have questions, suggestions or want to obtain a new series schedule should also contact Linda.
