Dog Days of Summer will feature shopping, music and more

Bring your family - and your pup - to Grandview Vineyard on Saturday, July 13, for food, music, shopping and more. Dog Days of Summer Sip & Shop Event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the vineyard, 1489 Grandview Road, Mount Joy.

"We currently have 63 vendors who will be setting up booths to promote their businesses," said Christina Warfel of Utterly Simple Events, which is organizing the event at Grandview. "We also have two food trucks as well as an ice cream truck." Grandview wine will also be available for purchase.

Jaded, an acoustic duo featuring Rebecca Jade and Ed Krepps, will perform live music from noon to 2:30 p.m., and additional entertainment will include appearances by Waffle Dog and Shaggy, Scooby-Doo characters who will stroll throughout the venue. A free activity for kids will also be featured.

Vendors will include Karri's Creations, Opal & Silk, Utterly Simple Creations, Happy Pawz Bakery, Fetch! Pet Care, Mary Kay, Tastefully Simple, Cupcakes with a Kick! and more.

Warfel began hosting outdoor events like this during the start of the pandemic. Her first event happened in October of 2020. "The community response was so overwhelming," she recalled. "From there, we have grown and added new elements to the events each year." She has held events in Dauphin, Cumberland, Lebanon and Perry counties, but this will be her first event in Lancaster County.

The event is a fundraiser for the Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue. "With this being not only our first event in Lancaster County but also at this venue, I asked the owner of the winery to select the organization," Warfel shared, noting that people from the rescue will be present with some adoptable dogs. "The majority of the vendors have been kind enough to donate items to be (given away), with all of the money raised going directly to the rescue. We have also advertised the wish/needs list of the rescue as well for those who would like to donate items directly to them."

Warfel said the event promises to be a fun summer day out. "There is free parking and free admission as well as the free entertainment," she said. "People are more than welcome to bring a blanket and enjoy the day in the grass watching the band. ... There will be some games and surprises throughout the event that for the meantime will remain a secret!"

Dogs may attend the event with their owners, but dogs must be leashed, cleaned up after and well-behaved. If it rains, the event will be rescheduled with the rain date to be announced.
