Donegal posts "Gold Out" game

Donegal High School's annual Gold Out game against Berks Catholic will take place at Donegal's stadium, 1025 Koser Road, Mount Joy, on Friday, Sept. 22. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m., and the game will start at 7 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to wear gold and bring monetary donations to support Donegal High School's Mini-THON. Mini-THONs were started in 1993 and have raised more than $64 million over the years to support Four Diamonds at the Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. For families with a child who has cancer, Four Diamonds pays for 100% of all cancer-related medical expenses that are not covered by insurance. The organization also assists children and their families through support and research.

The Gold Out is being held in connection with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, September. The color gold symbolizes the resiliency of children fighting cancer.

Gold Out merchandise, including shirts, will be available for purchase at the event. Donegal High School students will have opportunities to purchase their shirts prior to the game.

There is an admission fee, with a discount for senior and students.

All monies raised will benefit Donegal High School Mini-THON and Four Diamonds. To donate or learn more, visit http://www.fourdiamonds.org or speak to any student involved in Mini-THON.
