Donegal Will Celebrate Homecoming

Ten young ladies will vie for the title of homecoming queen when Donegal High School celebrates homecoming on Friday, Oct. 22. A carnival will be held at the school from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by a football game against Lebanon High School. The queen will be crowned during halftime. A homecoming dance will take place on Saturday, Oct. 23.

The candidates for queen are Elizabeth "Lizzy" Allen, Emily Barton, Megan Harlacher, Aubree Jones, Emma Miller, Cassidy Paz, Nadia Rivera, Jessica Shaker, Rylee Smith and Mia Steffy.

Lizzy is the daughter of Rashard and Michelle Allen of Marietta. She is alto section leader in the choir and is a member of the Rhythm Singers and Donegal Performing Arts (DPA). Outside of school, she records music with her brother. After graduation, she plans to continue her studies in the music industry with the goal of becoming either a recording artist or an interior designer.

Emily is the daughter of Michael Barton and Danielle Barton of Mount Joy. She is a member of Student Council, Mini-THON and the Spanish club. She plans to attend college to major in psychology and minor in environmental health.

Megan is the daughter of Scot Harlacher and Sue Harlacher of Mount Joy. She has been class vice president for four years and is a member of the marching and jazz bands. She plays tennis and is a member of DPA and the booster club. After graduation, she plans on studying architecture.

Aubree is the daughter of Tom and Rochelle Jones of Maytown. She is co-captain of the tennis team and is a member of National Honor Society (NHS). She is secretary of DPA and has performed in multiple plays and musicals. She is also a member of Rhythm Singers and Link Crew. Outside of school, she serves on the worship team and participates in the youth group at Community Bible Church. She is also a dancer and has assisted with teaching dance to youths. After graduation, she plans to attend college with the goal of becoming a pediatric nurse.

Emma is the daughter of Chris and Julie Miller of Mount Joy. She is the president of Student Council, treasurer of the National Art Honor Society and a member of Link Crew and the Future Teachers of America. She also plays field hockey and softball. She is an active member of Community Bible Church. After graduation, she plans to attend the University of Delaware to study early childhood education and play field hockey.

Cassidy is the daughter of Joseph Paz of East Petersburg and Nicole Paz of Marietta. She is a member of Key Club, Link Crew, Future Teachers of America, DPA, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Mini-THON. She also participates with quiz bowl and is on the tennis team. Outside of school, she plays tennis, is a member of youth group and performs community service with the American Legion. After graduation, she plans to attend college to major in child development with the goal of becoming a child psychologist.

Nadia is the daughter of Charles and Maria Rivera of Mount Joy. She is vice president of DPA and is a member of FBLA and Link Crew. She plays cello in the orchestra and is a member of the choir and Rhythm Singers. Outside of school, she performs with Susquehanna Stage. She plans to attend Flagler College and eventually earn a master's degree in criminology.

Jessica is the daughter of Assem Shaker and Georgina Abadir of Marietta. She is a member of NHS and Key Club. After graduation, she plans to attend college with the goal of becoming a physician assistant.

Rylee is the daughter of Brian and Marietta Smith of Maytown. She plays basketball and has an internship teaching second-graders at Donegal Primary School. She plans to attend college with the goal of becoming a second-grade teacher.

Mia is the daughter of Troy and Rita Steffy of Mount Joy. She has played soccer all four years of high school. Outside of school, she plays club soccer. She plans to attend college to study nutrition.
