A classic board game will be brought to life when Donegal High School presents "Clue." The play will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18 and 19, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20.

"The show is about a bunch of guests who come to a dinner party at a mansion," said Hannah Slobozien, a junior who plays Mrs. Peacock. "They're all being blackmailed for things they may or may not have done."

As Hannah explained, the show is a murder mystery, but it's full of humor. "It's hilarious," she stated.

Based on the 1985 Paramount movie, which was inspired by the Hasbro board game, "Clue" features all of the well-known characters from the game, but audiences will have the opportunity to learn more about each person. "When you play the board game, you don't get to dive into the characters like you do in the play," explained Jered Mackison, a senior who portrays Mr. Green. "Each character has their own quirks and unique personality." The show also includes a lot of physical comedy and a lot of plot twists, he noted, as well as an elaborate set that features a main room with moving modules that reveal the other rooms in the mansion. "Each door on the set leads to a room where the audience can get a more intimate view of that room," Jered said.

The show moves at a fast pace and can seem chaotic at times, said Callie Hoffer, a senior who plays Miss Scarlet. "Almost everything we say has a double meaning behind it," she stated. "There's a lot of word play, and the show is really funny. Even when things seem to be going off track, there's an intentionality to it."

Landis Cramer, a junior who plays Wadsworth, agreed, noting, "Every action and movement on stage is all very purposeful. It's complicated sometimes to figure out where things are going, but it's going to get somewhere. Sometimes, I wish you could pause the show to take a minute to see what's really going on."

Rounding out the cast of "Clue" are Jordan Echterling, Liam Nornhold, Zoe Snyder, Erin Kready, Pieridae Barbach, Aiden Hipsky, Aiden Walsh and Hailey Burns. The show will be directed by Brianna Wilhelm, a 2017 Donegal graduate and veteran of the theater program.

Audiences can expect to be on the edge of their seat wondering how the mystery will be solved, Landis said. "In the board game, you're looking for who did it," he remarked. "In the play, you're looking for who did it and why they did it."
