DVCCC posts student art contest

For the eighth year, the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County (DVCCC) will highlight young artists through the High School Student Art Contest and Exhibition. Students in grades nine through 12 from throughout Chester County may submit paintings, drawings, sculptures, digital art and more. The contest will provide an opportunity for youths to let their creativity flow and be a voice for domestic violence awareness.

Students should preregister for the competition by Friday, March 22, 2024, using the link found by visiting http://www.dvcccpa.org and looking for "Student Art Contest" under "News & Events." Artworks must be submitted by Friday, March 22, 2024; pickup by DVCCC may be arranged by contacting Amelia Rayburn-Pizzica at arayburn@dvcccpa.org.

The artworks will be featured on DVCCC's Facebook page and will be displayed from Saturday, March 30, to Saturday, April 6, at Sunset Hill Jewelers and Fine Arts Gallery, 23 N. High St., West Chester. Sunset Hill also participates in West Chester's First Fridays, and the student art exhibition will be the featured show on Friday, April 5.

The judges for the student art competition will be Jackie J. Szafara, executive director of the National Arts Program; photographer Victoria Browning Wyeth; local abstract painter Veena Loftus; photographer Gary Altoonian; and painter Dane Tilghman. There will be a link to vote for the People's Choice winner accessible on all of DVCCC's social media pages as well as the aforementioned website.

A reception will take place at Sunset Hill Jewelers and Fine Arts Gallery on Saturday, April 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. featuring the announcement of the winners. Winning artworks will be featured at http://www.dvcccpa.org.
