EASD Earns Recognition

The Elizabethtown Area School District (EASD) has been recognized with the Best Communities for Music Education designation by the NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment and support of music education. This honor recognizes school districts across the United States that have demonstrated exceptional achievement in providing access to music education for all students.

To qualify for this recognition, EASD completed a comprehensive application detailing the district's funding, music participation rates, graduation requirements, instruction time, facilities, and community support for music programs. The information was verified by school officials and reviewed by the arts education research firm WolfBrown.

Music education is a foundational component of the student experience at EASD. All students in kindergarten through eighth grade receive general music instruction. Students may participate in instrumental music in fourth grade through concert band, jazz band, and orchestra programs. Choral ensembles begin in fifth grade, and at the middle and high school levels, opportunities expand to include marching band, chamber orchestra, show choir, and more. Students also have opportunities to learn and perform beyond the classroom.

The NAMM Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the National Association of Music Merchants.
