Easter activities set throughout the community

As Easter approaches, local churches and organizations have planned fun springtime events to celebrate the holiday.

Pequea Evangelical Congregational (E.C.) Church, 5482 Old Philadelphia Pike, Gap, will hold an Easter egg hunt, which is open to area children from 3 years of age to sixth grade, on Friday, March 31, at 6:30 p.m.

The event will begin with a video presenting the Gospel message of Easter. Following the video, participants will move outside to the church yard, where the egg hunt will be held. "We will have 2,000 eggs," said pastor Jesse Bills, who noted that church members fill the eggs with individually wrapped pieces of candy prior to distributing them in the church yard.

Following the egg hunt, the church will hold a movie night featuring a family-friendly film. Free refreshments will be served, including hot dogs, popcorn and snacks. For more information, email pequeaevents@gmail.com.

The Parkesburg Lions Club will present Breakfast with the Easter Bunny on Saturday, April 1, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Parkesburg Baptist Church, 103 West St., Parkesburg. Breakfast will include pancakes, breakfast meat, eggs and beverages. There will be separate prices for people age 12 and up and children under age 12.

The Easter Bunny will be on hand and available for pictures. Organizers are requesting that attendees make reservations for the breakfast. To register, contact either Karen Fronefield at 484-678-4231 or Karen Holmes at 717-380-3098. The registration deadline is Friday, March 24.

Following breakfast, Easter egg hunts will be held in Parkesburg's Minch Park beginning at 11 a.m. There will be areas of the park designated for certain age levels. Children will be asked to return the plastic eggs to the Lions Club before leaving the park. Depending on the number of participants, there may be a maximum number of eggs allowed to be found per person.

"We look forward to these events," said Lions Club president Robin McKenna. "Monies earned from the breakfast will help fund the Parkesburg Lions Club Halloween Parade along with helping our community."

Penningtonville Presbyterian Church, 406 Main St., Atglen, will present a community Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 1, at noon. Also included will be a story time and visit from the Easter Bunny. For more information, visit http://www.facebook.com/PenningtonvillePC and choose Events.

The Christiana Historical Society, in conjunction with the Christiana Borough Police Department, will present its second annual Victorian Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 8, from 10 a.m. to noon on the lawn of the William Penn Brinton House, 17 Green St., Christiana, which is the society's headquarters.

For the hunt, children will be divided into age groups from 1 through 10 years old. Prizes will be awarded.

There also be a special appearance by Tank, the therapy bunny, who is owned by Katya Hottenstein. "Tank came to our event last year, and the kids loved him," said society member Kathy Patterson, event organizer. For event updates, visit http://www.christianahistoricalsociety.com/events.
