ELANCO Library plans activities

The Eastern Lancaster County (ELANCO) Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, will offer a variety of events and programs to the community. Registration is not required unless noted. For details, visit http://www.elancolibrary.org or contact 717-354-0525 or adagostino@elancolibrary.org.

The library offers various activities regularly. In December, these will include Music and Movement, for children from birth to age 6 with a parent or caregiver, on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 10:30 a.m.; Baby Story Time, for youngsters from birth to 17 months with a parent or caregiver, on Monday, Dec. 2, at 10 a.m., with siblings welcome to listen, read, or play independently; Hooks and Needles Yarn Craft Club, for people of all ages who knit or crochet, on Monday, Dec. 9, at 6:30 p.m.; Lego Creation Club, recommended for kids age 8 and up as well as siblings, on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 6 p.m.; Preschool Story Time, for children ages 3 to 6, every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.; and Toddler Thursdays, for children from birth to age 3, every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. The December theme will be "Winter Wonderland." Siblings are welcome to join in at Preschool Story Time and Toddler Thursdays.

Friends of the Library will hold a holiday book sale, offering new and gently used items, on Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the library.

Concurrently with the book sale, the ELANCO Library Board of Trustees will offer a holiday yard sale on the first floor of the library. Recycled treasures and holiday items will be available by donation, with all proceeds benefiting the library.

Children of all ages accompanied by a parent or other caregiver may read aloud to Pepper the Labrador retriever during Read Aloud with Pepper the Dog! on Dec. 7 at 2 p.m.

The New Holland Elementary School Community Involvement Club will host a bake sale on Friday, Dec. 13, from noon to 3 p.m. The students, who have organized the event from start to finish, will sell baked goods and other treats, and proceeds will benefit the ELANCO Library.

The library will host STEM Gingerbread House Construction Zone on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. People of all ages may stop by the library to design and decorate a gingerbread house to take home. To ensure adequate materials are available, registration is required at the aforementioned website.

Teen Tuesdays, for tweens and teens, will offer crafts, games, snacks, and more at 3:30 p.m. on select dates. The dates and activities are Dec. 3, creative writing; Dec. 10, STEM winter games; and Dec. 17, a holiday party, crafts, and games.
