ELANCO Library posts activities

The Eastern Lancaster County (ELANCO) Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, will offer a variety of events and programs to the community. Registration is not required, unless noted. For details, visit http://www.elancolibrary.org or contact 717-354-0525 or adagostino@elancolibrary.org.

ELANCO Library is seeking donations of gently used children's books to sell at the Friends of the Library's book sales and to give away to young readers. Patrons may drop off donations at the library any time it is open.

A Homeschool Curriculum and Book Swap will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9. From 11 to 11:45 a.m., homeschooling families may drop off books and other educational materials they no longer need and enjoy light refreshments and social time. From 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., attendees may select materials to take home. The materials will be offered without charge on a first-come, first-served basis.

The library offers various activities regularly. In September, these will include Readers' Roundtable Book Discussion on Monday, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m.; Hooks and Needles: Yarn Craft Club, for adults who knit or crochet, on Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m.; Lego Creation Club on Thursday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m.; Preschool Story Time, for children ages 3 to 6, every Tuesday in September at 10:30 a.m.; and Toddler Thursdays, for children ages 1 to 3, every Thursday in September at 10:30 a.m. In September, money will be the topic of Preschool Story Time, and counting skills will be the focus of Toddler Thursdays; siblings are welcome to join in.

Free Speech and False Speech: Political Deception and Its Legal Limits will be presented on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. Robert Spicer, associate professor of communication and journalism at Millersville University, will discuss his book, "Free Speech and False Speech: Political Deception and Its Legal Limits (or Lack Thereof)." The event will also include a question-and-answer session, discussion, and light refreshments.

On the Same Page Teen Book Club will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 3 p.m. in the Young Adult nook on the first floor of the library.
