ELANCO Library Posts Calendar

The Eastern Lancaster County (ELANCO) Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, will offer a variety of events and programs to the community. Registration is required for most activities. Preschool Story Time for children ages 3 to 6 will be held on Tuesdays, and Toddler Thursdays will run on Thursdays for children from birth to age 3 and their siblings. Both programs will start at 10:30 a.m.

Teen Tuesday Clubs will meet on Tuesdays from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Each week, youths age 12 and older will explore a topic such as STEM, creative writing, arts and crafts, or book discussions.

Read Aloud With Pepper will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4. Children of all ages accompanied by a caregiver are invited to read aloud to Pepper the Labrador retriever.

Music & Movement will be held on Feb. 4 at 10:30 a.m. for children from birth to age 6 with a parent or caregiver. This musical story time is designed to promote language development and reading readiness skills while providing young children with joyful introductions to a variety of music and music-making experiences.

Readers' Roundtable Book Discussion will meet at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, to discuss "West With Giraffes" by Lynda Rutledge. The program is open to adults.

Hooks & Needles, a yarn craft club, will meet on Monday, Feb. 13, at 6:30 p.m. Knitters and crocheters will gather to work on projects. Beginners are welcome.

An OVERBOOKED Valentine's Day Party and Preschool Story Time will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 10:30 a.m. Combined with the regularly scheduled story time, a Valentine's Day party will be held. The event will feature a story, a snack, and a craft exploring maximizing love and managing stress.

Bird ID 101 will be presented on Friday, Feb. 17, at 3 p.m. by Miss Jen, resident bird enthusiast. The program is open to people of all ages and skill levels and will discuss birds seen at bird feeders in people's backyards.

The ELANCO Library Great Backyard Bird Count will take place on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. The library will participate in the annual global citizen science event where people all over the world identify and count birds on the same weekend to help scientists study bird populations. People of all ages and skill levels are welcome to help out. Participants should arrive by 10 a.m. for instructions before the count begins.

Tech Tips for Seniors will be offered on Monday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. Attendees are invited to bring their cell phone, tablet, or laptop for assistance. Attendees will also learn how to use Libby to borrow free e-books and e-audiobooks with a library card. Tips on how to optimize devices for low vision will be included.

The Lego Creation Club will gather on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 6 p.m. Using Lego bricks, participants will build themed creations that will be displayed in the library.

The Buckhill Sleuths' Book Discussion will meet in person on Monday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. Attendees will meet in the Activity Room to talk about "The Thursday Murder Club" by Richard Osman.

The Friends of the Library's spring book sale will take place on Friday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A wide selection of new and gently used books will be available for purchase. Proceeds will benefit the ELANCO Library.
