ELANCO Library posts calendar

The Eastern Lancaster County (ELANCO) Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, will offer a variety of events and programs to the community. Registration is required for most activities. Story time programs will include Preschool Story Time for children ages 3 to 6 on Wednesdays at 10 and 11 a.m. and Toddler Thursdays for children birth to age 3 on Thursdays at 11 a.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Music & Movement will take place on Saturday, April 1, at 10:30 a.m. The musical story time is for children from birth to age 6 with a caregiver.

The STEM Easter Egg Drop will be held at 2 p.m. on April 1. In this STEM challenge, participants will design a safety device for their egg using basic materials and will then drop the eggs from a high point to see how they endure the fall. The workshop is best for elementary school-age students, but those of all ages are invited to enjoy family fun and adventure.

Readers' Roundtable Book Discussion will gather on Monday, April 3, at 2 p.m. to discuss "The Children's Blizzard" by Melanie Benjamin. The group is open to adults.

Hooks and Needles Yarn Craft Club will meet on Monday, April 10, at 6:30 p.m. Knitters and crocheters are invited to bring a project to work on while socializing with others. Beginners are also welcome.

The Friends of the Library group's spring book sale will be held on Friday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The sale will feature new and used books with all proceeds benefiting the library.

Tech Tips for Seniors will be offered on Monday, April 17, at 2 p.m. Seniors are invited to bring their devices to get assistance with technical problems. Seniors can also learn how to use Libby to get free e-books and e-audiobooks and how to optimize devices for low vision.

An Earth Day celebration will be held on Saturday, April 22, at 11 a.m. in the Activity Room. The free event will include crafts, games, and activities that celebrate the planet. Registration is not required.

A presentation titled "The Invasive Spotted Lanternfly: A Closer Look" will be held on April 22 at 2 p.m. in the Activity Room. The short lecture and informational session on the invasive spotted lanternfly and the threats it poses to Pennsylvania forests and agriculture will include a question-and-answer session. Registration is not required.

Buckhill Sleuths' Book Discussion will meet in person on Monday, April 24, at 2 p.m. in the Activity Room. Attendees will discuss "The Woman in Cabin 10" by Ruth Ware.

"The Weaving Book: Artistry, Creativity, and Weaving" with Amber Kane will be offered on Wednesday, April 26, at 7 p.m. Attendees will be introduced to how artists work using their creativity, along with the basic techniques that every weaver uses. The workshop is designed for children in grades one to six, but children of all ages are welcome to attend.

The Lego Creation Club will meet on Thursday, April 27, at 6 p.m. to build a themed creation that will be displayed in the library.

Teen Tuesday Club will meet every Tuesday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Teens age 12 and older will explore various topics, including STEM, creative writing, arts and crafts, and book discussions.

The ELANCO Library board of trustees seeks new members. The board is looking for enthusiastic and committed candidates with excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, especially individuals with experience or education in fundraising/development, teaching/education, homeschooling, youth services, STEM education, small business/farming, senior citizen engagement/aging in place, and/or who are parents of young children. Board members must reside in New Holland, Terre Hill, Earl Township, East Earl Township, or Caernarvon Township. Interested persons may write a short letter outlining their skills, experience, and interests and email it to dagostino@elancolibrary.org, drop it off at library, or mail it to the library.
