ELANCO Library posts programs

The Eastern Lancaster County (ELANCO) Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, will offer a variety of events and programs to the community. Registration is not required unless noted. For details, visit http://www.elancolibrary.org or contact 717-354-0525 or adagostino@elancolibrary.org.

The library offers various activities regularly. In August, these will include Music and Movement, for children birth to age 6 with a parent or caregiver, on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 10:30 a.m.; Readers' Roundtable Book Discussion on Monday, Aug. 5, at 2 p.m.; Hooks and Needles Yarn Craft Club, for people of all ages who knit or crochet, on Monday, Aug. 12, at 6:30 p.m.; Lego Creation Club, recommended for kids age 8 and up as well as siblings, on Thursday, Aug. 22, at 6 p.m.; Preschool Story Time, for children ages 3 to 6, every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.; and Toddler Thursdays, for children from birth to age 3, every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Siblings are welcome to join in at Preschool Story Time and Toddler Thursdays.

Lunch Munch, for teens and tweens, will take place on Aug. 3 at noon. Attendees should bring their lunch.

Children of all ages accompanied by a parent or other caregiver may read aloud to Pepper the Labrador retriever during Read with Pepper the Pup! on Aug. 3 at 2 p.m.

STEM Adventures: Crash Challenge will be offered on Aug. 5 at 6 p.m. Attendees of all ages will be invited to design, build, test, and discover while exploring concepts of science, technology, engineering, and math.

Critter Connections on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at 10:30 a.m. will be a hands-on, educational program featuring a rabbit, a guinea pig, geckos, a bearded dragon, turtles, insects, and snakes. Attendees will have opportunities to touch and hold the animals. Space is limited, and entry will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Melody Karick will lead a Dementia Caregiver Support program for adults on Thursday, Aug. 8, at 2 p.m. The program will focus on the importance of self-care for care partners supporting people living with dementia.

The Summer Reading Program will end on Saturday, Aug. 10. It will be the last day to turn in reading logs and pick up prizes.

Baby Story Time, for babies from birth to 17 months with a parent or other adult, will take place on Monday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m. Siblings may attend and listen, read, or play independently.
