ELANCO Library posts schedule

The Eastern Lancaster County (ELANCO) Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, will offer a variety of events and programs to the community. Registration is not required, unless noted. For details, visit http://www.elancolibrary.org or contact 717-354-0525 or adagostino@elancolibrary.org.

The Children's Library is being remodeled. Many children's books and audiobooks are available for checkout on the library's first floor, and story times and other children's programs will continue as scheduled. The library offers various activities regularly. In March, these will include Music and Movement, for children birth to age 6 with a parent or caregiver, on Saturday, March 2, at 10:30 a.m.; Readers' Roundtable Book Discussion, featuring "The Good Left Undone" by Adriana Trigiani, on Monday, March 4, at 2 p.m.; Hooks and Needles: Yarn Craft Club, for people of all ages who knit or crochet, on Monday, March 11, at 6:30 p.m.; Lego Creation Club on Thursday, March 14, at 6 p.m.; Buckhill Sleuths' Book Discussion, featuring "The Husbands" by Chandler Baker, on Monday, March 25, at 2 p.m.; On the Same Page Teen Book Club, featuring "Fever Year: The Killer Flu of 1918" by Don Brown, on Tuesday, March 26, at 3 p.m.; Preschool Story Time, for children ages 3 to 6, every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.; and Toddler Thursdays, for children birth to age 3, every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. In March, "Welcome Spring!" will be the topic of Preschool Story Time and Toddler Thursdays; siblings are welcome to join in.

Children of all ages accompanied by a parent or other caregiver may read aloud to Pepper the Labrador retriever during Read with Pepper the Pup! on March 2 at 2 p.m.

STEM Challenge: Easter Egg Drop will be offered on Saturday, March 16, at 11 a.m. Using basic materials, participants will design a device to help protect an egg when it is dropped from a height. This workshop is geared for elementary school age students, but those of all ages may attend.

Tech Tips for Seniors will be available on Monday, March 18, at 2 p.m. Attendees may bring a cell phone, electronic tablet, or laptop to the library to receive assistance with technical problems. Attendees may also learn how to use Libby to borrow free e-books and e-audiobooks with their library card. Tips on how to optimize devices for low vision will be included.

Friday Free Play will be offered on Friday, March 22, at 10 a.m. in the story corner. During the hourlong program, children may play with toys, puppets and books. A small snack will be provided. Children of all ages are welcome, and no registration is required.
