ELANCO Library Sets Activities

The Eastern Lancaster County (ELANCO) Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, will offer a variety of events and programs to the community. Registration is not required unless noted. For details, visit http://www.elancolibrary.org or contact 717-354-0525 or adagostino@elancolibrary.org.

The library offers various activities regularly. In July, these will include Music and Movement, for children from birth to age 6 with a parent or caregiver on Mondays at 10:30 a.m.; Hooks and Needles Yarn Craft Club, for people of all ages who knit or crochet, on Monday, July 14, at 6:30 p.m.; and Lego Creation Club on Thursday, July 10, at 6 p.m.

The library will also offer Preschool Storytime, for children ages 4 to 6, on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Toddler Thursdays, for children from birth to age 3, on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. The July theme will be "Shapes." Siblings are welcome to join.

Children of all ages accompanied by a parent or caregiver may read aloud to Pepper the Labrador retriever during Read with Pepper the Dog! on Saturday, July 5, at 2 p.m.

The library's Summer Reading Program is open to people of all ages and will run through Saturday, Aug. 16. Reading logs can be picked up at the library, and the theme of this year's program is "Color Our World."

Family STEM Nights will be offered on Wednesdays, July 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30, at 6 p.m. Themes for STEM challenges will range from astronomy to zoology, and the program is open to people of all ages.

Cartooning Made Easy will be offered for teens and tweens on July 2 at 1 p.m. Ed Klein will instruct students on the basics of cartooning. Registration is required.

ELANCO Area Summer Play and Learn - Ready for Kindergarten! will take place on Fridays, July 11, 18, and 25, at 10 a.m. Children from birth to age 5 can learn through play, with information and resources to support their development and school readiness skills. Registration is required by emailing abeck@caplanc.org.

Allen Wessel will present "Retirement: Making Your Money Last" on July 14 at 6 p.m. He will discuss ideas for building strategies to manage income and expenses during retirement.

Lancaster County Parks and Recreation will present "Experiments With Light and Color" on July 16 at 11 a.m. Participants will use equipment such as prisms, prism glasses, slinkies, and blacklights. The program is for teens and tweens.

Lancaster County Parks and Recreation will present "Animal Eyes and What They See" on July 23 at 11 a.m. Participants will learn about the colors different types of animals can see. The program is recommended for children ages 6 to 10, but people of all ages are welcome.

Lancaster County Parks and Recreation will also present "Crazy About Rainbows" on Saturday, July 26, at 11 a.m. Attendees will read a rainbow book, play games, and complete a rainbow craft. The program is designed for children ages 4 to 6.

Dementia educator and consultant Janie Martin from ForgeWorks will host "A Trip to the Seaside": A Summer Book Club for Adults Experiencing Dementia or Other Brain Changes on July 16 at 2 p.m. This monthly book club allows people with dementia to enjoy reading while forming social connections. "A Trip to the Seaside," written by Kate Chesters, is a book designed for adults with brain changes.

Raven Ridge Wildlife Center will present a program on Thursday, July 17, at 1 p.m. The program will focus on a variety of animals, including reptiles, mammals, and birds of prey, as well as the laws and regulations for rehabilitating wildlife. The program is for people of all ages.

Watercolor Workshop with Sandra Sanders will take place on July 18 and 25 at 2 p.m. The class will teach the basics of watercolor painting and allow time to work on a project, and it is open to adults of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced artists. Attendees may join one or both sessions, and all materials will be provided. Registration is required.

Magician Mike Rose will present a "Colorful Magic" show on Tuesday, July 29, at 2 p.m. The show will include magic tricks and comedy themed around color. The program is for people of all ages.
