ELANCO Library Sets Activities

The Eastern Lancaster County (ELANCO) Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, will offer events and programs to the community. Registration is not required unless noted. For details, visit http://www.elancolibrary.org or contact 717-354-0525 or adagostino@elancolibrary.org.

The library offers various activities regularly. In September, these will include Music and Movement, for children from birth to age 6 with a parent or caregiver, on Mondays at 10:30 a.m.; Readers' Roundtable Book Discussion on Monday, Sept. 8, at 2 p.m.; Hooks and Needles Yarn Craft Club, for people of all ages who knit or crochet, on Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m.; and Lego Creation Club on Thursday, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m.

The library will also offer Preschool Storytime, for children ages 4 to 6, on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Toddler Thursdays, for children from birth to age 3, on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. The September theme will be "Animal Stories." Siblings are welcome to join.

Children of all ages accompanied by a parent or caregiver may read aloud to Pepper the Labrador retriever during Read with Pepper the Dog! on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 2 p.m.

A Homeschool Curriculum and Book Swap will take place on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m. From 11 to 11:30 a.m., homeschooling families may drop off educational materials they no longer need and enjoy social time. Families may then tour the library to learn about resources the library offers to homeschoolers. They will also have the opportunity to select and take home books. This will be a completely free exchange, with materials contributed without condition, and people may take materials without charge or condition on a first-come, first-served basis.

A Watercolor Workshop with Sandra Sanders will take place on Wednesdays, Sept. 17 and 24, at 2 p.m. The class will teach the basics of watercolor painting and allow time to work on a project, and it is open to adults of all skill levels. Attendees may join one or both sessions, and all materials will be provided. Registration is required.

A Constitution Celebration will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 12:30 p.m. The event will include a potluck lunch, a costume contest, and a dramatic reading of the entire Constitution. Interested adults and children who attend the event may read aloud a section of the Constitution as a large-print copy is passed around. Attendees are welcome to come in historical costume, and one adult and one child will be chosen as the winner of the best costume. The event is for people of all ages.

A GIANT Mini Chef Program will be offered on Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. Charlotte Scheid, a dietician from GIANT Foods, will teach children ages 3 to 8 about healthy foods and lead them in making a healthy snack. Registration is required.

A Dollars and Cents Special Storytime will take place on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. The event is for children ages 4 to 6 and their siblings.
