ELANCO Library sets activities

The Eastern Lancaster County (ELANCO) Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, will offer a variety of events and programs to the community. Registration is not required unless noted. For details, visit http://www.elancolibrary.org or contact 717-354-0525 or adagostino@elancolibrary.org.

The library offers various activities regularly. In November, these will include Music and Movement, for children from birth to age 6 with a parent or caregiver, on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 10:30 a.m.; Baby Story Time, for youngsters from birth to 17 months with a parent or caregiver, on Monday, Nov. 4, at 10 a.m., with siblings welcome; Readers' Roundtable Book Discussion on Nov. 4 at 2 p.m.; Hooks and Needles Yarn Craft Club, for people of all ages who knit or crochet, on Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m.; Lego Creation Club, recommended for kids age 8 and up as well as siblings, on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m.; Preschool Story Time, for children ages 3 to 6, every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.; and Toddler Thursdays, for children from birth to age 3, every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Siblings are welcome to join in at Preschool Story Time and Toddler Thursdays.

Children of all ages accompanied by a parent or other caregiver may read aloud to Pepper the Labrador retriever during Read Aloud with Pepper the Dog! on Nov. 2 at 2 p.m.

The library will hold a basket bingo on Sunday, Nov. 3, at the American Legion, 35 S. Hoover Ave., New Holland. Doors will open at 1 p.m., and bingo will start at 2 p.m. The fee includes 20 games; special games will be available. Tickets may be purchased at the library.

Charting Your Way Through High School for College, Career, or Military will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 6:30 p.m. Natalie Mack will share steps that teens should take to prepare for post-graduation life, whether that means entering college, the workforce, or the military. Mack is a national certified counselor, an author, a TEDx speaker, and a home educator. The event will take place on Zoom, and registration is required.

The library will offer a Folded Book Art Class on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. Making folded book art involves marking and folding the pages of a book to create a 3D sculpture, image, design, or word on the edge of the pages. Jeannette Kolb, a longtime library volunteer and book artist, will introduce the craft, display some of her work, demonstrate basic techniques, and get attendees started on their own creation. The class is limited to 10 adults, and preregistration is required. All supplies will be provided.

Jesse Rothacker from Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary will present Ectothermic Animal Adventures on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. Rothacker will share information about reptiles, which are buried alive as babies, grow up as orphans, and learn how to survive without teachers or parents. The program is suitable for people of all ages. Space is limited, and entry will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Teen Tuesdays, for tweens and teens, will take place on Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m., offering an hour of crafts, games, snacks, and more. No registration is required. The November dates and programs are as follows: Nov. 5, Piggy Bank Painting; Nov. 12, Healthy Snack Competition; Nov. 19, Crafts on a Budget; and Nov. 26, Thanksgiving Potluck and Games.
