Elizabeth Hughes Society to start club year

Elizabeth Hughes Society, a club for women of Elizabethtown, is celebrating its 95th season this year. The theme for the year is "Wonder Women."

The first program will be held on Monday, Oct. 23, at 7:30 pm. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 398 N. Locust St., Elizabethtown, on the second floor in room 125, next to the contemporary sanctuary. Walt and Margie Cook will present "Eleanor Roosevelt's Contributions." The Cooks are devoted to sharing American biographies.

Community members, including prospective members, are welcome to attend. The members of the Elizabeth Hughes Society seek to grow intellectually by studying new and pertinent issues, to commit time and energy to exercise social responsibility, and to meet with other women who are also committed to these goals. The group's founders organized, founded, and staffed the first library in Elizabethtown, and the Elizabeth Hughes Society continues to give financial gifts to the library and other community groups.
