Elizabethtown Girl Scout earns Gold Award

Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania announced that Stephanie Hall from Lancaster County has earned the highest award in Girl Scouting, the Girl Scout Gold Award. Hall is a student at Elizabethtown Area High School.

For her Gold Award project, Hall assisted Conoy Brethren in Christ Church by tearing down an existing bridge that was in disrepair and designing and building a new bridge. The structure provides a way for church members and the community to access a playground and pavilion. Hall partnered with a local construction company to complete the project.

She devoted a minimum of 80 hours to plan, solve problems, and implement her ideas for change. Her project's mission will continue as the bridge stands for years to come.

The Girl Scout Gold Award is available to girls in high school who create sustainable change for a community or world issue. The projects seek to address pressing issues in Scouts' communities. Projects can also help Scouts gain professional skills, earn scholarships, build their network, and more.
