Enjoy a roast beef dinner

For the past two years, Pleasant View Communities Auxiliary has sponsored a roast beef dinner annually, but the meal was only available in-house to residents of the community. This year, the organization is offering the dinner to the general public.

The meal will be available for pickup or for dine-in at The Gathering Place, located inside the main building entrance at 554 N. Penryn Road, Manheim. It will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, April 28. The deadline for orders is Friday, April 18. No day-of tickets will be available.

"This year we are inviting the community to our table," said Pam Hoffman, president of Pleasant View Communities Auxiliary. "The dinner is an annual favorite, and it includes roast beef, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, a roll and butter and cookies." The meal will be prepared by SEI Catering.

Proceeds from the roast beef dinner support projects of the Pleasant View Communities Auxiliary, Hoffman said, noting that the group's mission states, "We are dedicated to inspiring and supporting the lives of all residents by providing passionate Christ-like services that addresses their spiritual, physical, social and emotional needs." The auxiliary members contribute to The Care Fund, providing benevolent care for residents. The group also supports departmental enhancements that enrich the lives of residents in all levels of care.

The roast beef dinner is the auxiliary's first fundraiser for the year, but others are planned for the coming months.

"Tickets are also available at Pleasant View Communities for Peters' chicken barbecue on Saturday, May 17, as part of our Community Day event," Hoffman said. "The ticket options include a half-chicken or a half-chicken meal. The meal includes a half-chicken, baked potato, roll and butter, applesauce, dessert and a drink." Preorders for the chicken barbecue are due by Saturday, May 3. A limited number of tickets will be available the day of the event. To purchase barbecue tickets, visit the events page at https://pleasantviewcommunities.org, stop by Esther's Collectibles Thrift Boutique or PVFiT on the campus, or contact a member of the auxiliary.

Hoffman hopes opening the roast beef meal to the community will help spread the word of all Pleasant View offers as well as provide a tasty dinner.

"Pleasant View Communities has been part of the Manheim community for 70 years and welcomes the community to join us for one of SEI Catering's most popular dinners," she said.

To order tickets for the roast beef dinner, visit SEI Catering, 152 Chestnut St., Lititz, or call 717-626-2050. Order forms are also available at several locations on the Pleasant View campus, including the main reception desk, or by contacting a member of the auxiliary.
