The Marietta Memorial Day Parade Committee recently recognized Sri Priya Thonupunuri as the winner of a writing contest for eighth-grade students at Donegal Junior High School. The theme was "What Memorial Day Means to Me."

As the contest winner, Sri Priya rode in the parade and then read her essay at the memorial service, held at the Marietta Cemetery. At this time, she received a letter of congratulations from state Rep. Tom Jones, a certificate from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and a cash prize from the parade committee.
