Estate planning seminar posted

St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 700 Pleasure Road, Lancaster, will host "Essential Estate Planning" on Wednesday, Jan. 17, from 6 to 7 p.m. The program is free and open to the public.

Stephen Feldmann will speak on why a person should do estate planning, how to prepare for this task, essential estate planning tools and how they work, and the probate process and how estate administration should work.

Feldmann has been an active community leader in the southern Pennsylvania area for nearly 40 years. He spent 34 years in the trust administration and wealth management business, most of it with M&T Bank and its York-area predecessors. After retiring from banking, he recently served the York County Bar Foundation as director of development.

Feldmann's civic engagement extends over his entire career and includes board appointments with organizations such as the Alzheimer's Association of Central Pennsylvania; OPEN, an AIDS support ministry in York; York Little Theater; The Salvation Army; United Way of York County, which named him Volunteer of the Year; and the York County History Center. He also served for seven years on the board of the York County Bar Foundation, including a year as its president.

His professional affiliations have included the Estate Planning Councils of both York and Lancaster counties, Leave a Legacy, and the Financial Planning Association of Central Pennsylvania. He has conducted or facilitated strategic thinking/planning, estate planning workshops and planned giving seminars for area groups and organizations, and he co-taught courses in estate settlement and estate planning for PBI and other continuing education organizations.

Born and raised in York, Feldmann graduated from Central York High School and received a Bachelor of Arts in history from Allegheny College and a Master of Arts in American studies from Penn State University. He earned the Certified Financial Planner designation in 2008.

This program is part of St. Matthew's Conversation Around the Corner speaker series. The aim of the series is to unite the community by exploring diverse subjects and fostering learning and connection.
