Ethiopian Fundraiser Meal Posted

Siloam Ethiopia will offer an Ethiopian meal on Saturday, March 26, from noon to 4:30 p.m. at Ethiopian Evangelical Church in Lancaster, 175 Church St., Landisville. The food will be offered for curbside pickup on a first-come, first-served basis.

Menu options will include doro wat, chicken with gravy featuring an Ethiopian spice called berbere; misir wat, a spicy dish featuring cooked lentils; a non-spicy dish of split yellow peas with gravy; and a non-spicy vegetable dish that combines cabbage, carrots and potatoes. Meals will be served with injera, a type of flatbread.

Proceeds will go toward ministries in Harar, Ethiopia. These are an orphanage and a free clinic that serves people who are homeless or otherwise in need. Due to a civil war, demand for medical care is high.

In addition, the clinic is seeking donations of the following items: a portable pulse oximeter, a pediatric blood pressure cuff, a microscope and any other laboratory equipment.

To reserve a meal, call 717-669-0930. Siloam Ethiopia also caters for small and large groups for any occasion.
