The annual service of thanksgiving and remembrance will return to Columbia's Locust Street Park on Sunday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. This public event commemorates the first responders who lost their lives on 9/11. The service will also honor those who continue their service in the local community and all military personnel and veterans.

A message by an active-duty Army helicopter pilot will be backed by Christian and patriotic music. After the worship service, all present will be invited to an informal picnic lunch. A freewill offering will be received to benefit the Columbia Food Bank. The event is sponsored by St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
