Event to feature music and candle lighting

Arts on the Square, a series of musical and visual arts programs, will feature "Carols by Candlelight" on Sunday, Dec. 22, at 4 p.m. in Market Square Presbyterian Church, 20 S. Second St., Harrisburg. Music of the season will be featured, with carol-singing by the audience and individual candle lighting.

Participants in "Carols by Candlelight" include the 50-voice Sanctuary Choir of Market Square Church, a 28-piece orchestra, and harpist Ruth Landis Hunter. Ethan J. Draper, organ scholar, will play the organ. Tyler A. Canonico-Dilley, artistic director, will conduct.

Among the works to be performed are Benjamin Britten's "A Ceremony of Carols," and for the first time, the orchestra will play solo, performing the classic "A Christmas Festival" by Leroy Anderson.

A freewill offering will be received. Complimentary parking is provided by the church in the adjacent Market Square Garage. Attendees are asked to enter the church from the first level of the garage or use the event entrance on Second Street.
